California workplace injuries: 2 injured in power line explosion

Two people were recently injured while on the job due to a possible equipment malfunction that led to a power line explosion. The victims are said to be contract employees for Southern California Edison. The accident reportedly occurred in Hawthorne the morning of Sept. 17. Workplace injuries such as those likely suffered in this incident can take a heavy toll on the victims and his or her loved ones. As such, workers' compensation benefits may be used to help ease the burdens now placed on these individuals and their families.

According to reports, the two employees -- who are officially employed with the Asplundh Company -- were installing new equipment near Grevillea Avenue and W. 118th Street when both gentlemen were shocked by the power line before a fire broke out. Both employees were transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries. Their current conditions are unknown.

At this time, this incident is still under investigation. So far, the official cause of the explosion has yet to be determined. As a result of this incident, nearly 2,000 people were left without power for the majority of the day.

Electrocution and burn injuries can take a serious toll on one's physical and emotional health. They can also be extremely costly to treat. These employees may be entitled to utilize workers' compensation benefits in order to get the care they need following this terrible event. However, it is not uncommon for some individuals to find that these benefits fail to cover all of their expenses. With the assistance of an experienced workers' comp attorney, these individuals -- and other employees in California who, like them, have suffered workplace injuries -- can seek help in obtaining full and fair coverage for any losses sustained, which will allow them the ability to focus on their recoveries.
