Here To Help You Recover After A Work Accident

Worker in serious condition after construction accident

California construction workers are well aware that numerous dangers exist on a construction site. Even when workers are careful and employers provide adequate safety training and equipment, a construction accident is possible. Recently, an out-of-state worker was seriously injured when he was electrocuted at a job site.

The long, metal trowel the man was working with came in contact with a live power line. The resulting shock sent the man into cardiac arrest. When emergency crews arrived, they were able to revive the man with a defibrillator. He was rushed to an area hospital from which he has since been transferred to another medical facility. He was listed as being in serious condition at the second hospital’s burn unit.

Additional details regarding the accident are not available at this time. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been called in to determine whether the man’s employer failed to adequately protect its workers. Any safety violations found could lead to fines for the company. The man was part of the construction crew building student housing for the University of Arkansas.

California construction workers can attest to the fact that power lines at construction sites can be an accident waiting to happen. If the proper safety precautions are not taken, a construction accident can occur. As with any other workplace accident, anyone injured on-the-job is usually entitled to workers’ compensation benefits. No indication as to how long this man will be in the hospital was given, but while he is there and then recovering at home, he is accumulating medical costs and also losing wages. Workers’ compensation generally covers the medical costs associated with an on-the-job injury and can provide a worker with a compensation package to cover lost wages.
