A California worker has died after a tragic construction accident. The man fell several feet while he was working at a home. The fall occurred in the morning at a neighborhood where they were working on a new home. It took crew members several minutes to realize the construction accident had happened.
The man was close to an unfinished stairwell and was reportedly working on the scaffolding when he fell. It took his coworkers about 10 minutes to notice he was gone, and when they found him, he was lying several feet below his previous location and on the concrete. He was transported to a local hospital, but he died from his injuries.
It is believed the man may have fallen at a distance of up to 35 feet. Cal/OSHA has stepped in to investigate the man’s death, but have not released any new details. The construction company has not commented on the loss of their worker.
When a California worker dies in a construction accident, the family will have many questions about what happened. While they struggle to deal with their new circumstances, it may not occur to them to wonder about their finances now that they have lost a major source of income. Fortunately workers’ compensation is often available to help families involved in such a tragic incident. Applying for this benefit could help offset their financial trouble as they struggle to make funeral arrangements and adjust to not only the loss of their loved one, but with the new financial situation they may have to soon deal with.
