California workplace accidents: Man dies after mixer accident

Medical personnel did what they could to save the life of a temporary employee at the Henkel Corporation in California. The possibility of workplace accidents is always present at industrial facilities. The question is always whether that accident could have been prevented?

Cal-OSHA investigates fatal industrial accident at sawmill

Cal-OSHA, the California agency responsible for occupational safety, is investigating the death of a sawmill worker in the northern part of the state. The worker involved in the industrial accident was attempting to free some lumber that was stuck in the automatic debarking machine when his hand got pulled into the machine. Firefighters were rushed to the scene, but were unable to save the man's life.

California workers' compensation could result from phone calls

A recent study has shown that California drivers feel pressured to accept work-related calls while driving even though hand-held phone calls are banned when operating a motor vehicle. These actions could lead to accidents and, ultimately, employers could find themselves owing workers' compensation benefits and facing potential liability as a result. Although employers often expect their employees to be available at all hours, it might be in their best interests to review their policies on mandatory phone calls while driving. Worker's compensation benefits can be costly to a company of any size.

California workers' compensation benefits are a necessity

Many California residents may be entitled to workers' compensation benefits due to injuries or illnesses suffered on the job. A recent story involving a plant worker has captured national attention and made companies as well as employees reevaluate their work environments. This worker, a 45-year-old woman, is now dealing with a great amount of pain and suffering due to workplace conditions and has received workers' compensation benefits as a result.

California workplace accidents: Officer killed on duty

A California corrections officer was killed recently while on duty when his SUV overturned and rolled. His service dog was in the vehicle with him and was killed as well. The officer was leading a five vehicle prisoner caravan when he appeared to have lost control of his SUV. Unfortunately, some workplace accidents such as this one happen on what is considered a routine call.
